WD40's represent many small insects on the Guadalupe River including midge emergers and mayfly nymphs and emergers.

Tying Instructions

Thread 8/0 Olive or black
Hook Standard dry fly
Size #18-20
Tail Lemon wood duck fibers
Wing Case Lemon wood duck fibers
Body Olive or black fur or synthetic dubbing
  1. Smash barb and place hook on vise.
  2. Wrap thread from eye to bend.
  3. Tie in lemon duck fibers to make tail. Make tail same length of hook shaft.
  4. Dub thread with fine fur and wrap two-thirds up hook towards eye.
  5. Tie in lemon duck feathers to make wing case.
  6. Using a dubbing loop, dub abdomen. Using bobbin, pick out bottom of abdomen to make legs.
  7. Pull lemon duck feathers over abdomen towards eye and tie off.
  8. Tie off head and cement.
