Caddis Larva

The caddis larva fly represents caddis flies in their larval stage (obviously). Unlike the caddis emerger who rise to the surface quickly, caddis larva swim around slowly on the bottom. Fish using a dead-drift technique.

Tying Instructions

Thread 8/0 Brown
Hook Curved caddis
Size #16-18
Abdomen Fine rabbit fur
Thorax Brown hare's ear fur
  1. Smash barb and place hook on vise.
  2. Wrap thread from eye to bend.
  3. Dub thread with olive fur and wrap two-thirds up hook towards eye to make abdomen.
  4. Using a dubbing loop, dub thorax with brown hare's ear fur to eye.
  5. Tie off head and cement.
